Pokémon Mega Evolution UK: ETB, restock and guide
Mega Evolution is the first set of the series that replaced Scarlet & Violet, and the UK got it two weeks after everyone else. It brought back a mechanic from a decade ago, it ships with two different Elite Trainer Boxes, and its chase cards use a rarity that did not exist before. Here is what you need to know to buy it at UK retail.
What Mega Evolution is
Mega Evolution is the first main expansion of the Mega Evolution series. The worldwide English release date was 26 September 2025. In EMEA, which includes the UK, the release was delayed to 10 October 2025. The Pokémon Company published a notice about the delay.
The set has 132 cards in the main list and 56 secret rares, 188 in total.
The mechanic is in the name. Mega Evolution ex cards return, and they give up three prizes when knocked out, which changes how the game plays around them. Mirror holofoil also returns for the first time in years. Both were deliberate throwbacks.
As a main expansion, Mega Evolution has booster boxes.
The product line, and the sensible buy
The English line:
- Booster box
- Booster bundle
- Two Elite Trainer Boxes: the Mega Lucario version with a Riolu promo, and the Mega Gardevoir version with an Alakazam promo
- Pokémon Center Elite Trainer Boxes
- League Battle Deck
- Build & Battle Box
- Blisters
The two ETBs are what people search for as "Mega Evolution ETB UK", and the choice between them is the promo and the artwork on the box. Neither is the better investment. Pick the one you want to own. Mega Evolution series ETBs list at £50.00 at Argos, and that is the line to hold: at or under it is retail, above it is resale.
For packs, the booster box is the sensible buy in a main set. The booster bundle is the smaller spend. The Build & Battle Box is a play product, priced for players, and it is often overlooked by collectors for that reason. Read are Elite Trainer Boxes worth it before buying both ETBs on the assumption that a pair is worth more.
The chase cards
Three cards lead the set:
- Mega Lucario ex Mega hyper rare, 188/132
- Mega Gardevoir ex Mega hyper rare, 187/132
- Mega Lucario ex special illustration rare, 179/132
The Mega hyper rare is new with this series. It sits at the very end of the secret rare list, and the two mascots hold the top two slots. Mega Lucario ex holds two of the top three, which tells you which of the two ETBs has had more attention. Prices for all three move, so check recent sold listings before you buy a single or price one for sale.
Where it sold in the UK
Mega Evolution went through Smyths, Argos, the supermarkets, Amazon UK and Pokémon Center UK from 10 October 2025. Argos lists Mega Evolution series ETBs at £50.00. Our Argos guide, Smyths guide and Pokémon Center UK guide cover how each retailer lists and limits Pokémon product.
Hold it sealed, or open it?
Sealed: Mega Evolution is a main expansion with booster boxes, and it is the first set of a new series. Both facts point the same way. First sets of a series get printed heavily and stay in print for a long time, because they are the entry point for new players. Main expansions get booster boxes, which means wide supply. Retail price is the ceiling for as long as product is on shelves, and for a first set that can be a long time.
The case for holding rests on the two ETBs, each with its own promo, and on Mega Lucario ex. That is a thin case next to a special set. Our guide to which Pokémon sets hold value explains why.
Opening: 56 secret rares and three that matter. A booster box gives the best pull rate per pound if you want to open, but it is a spend, not an investment. Price the single first if you want a specific Mega hyper rare. Sealed versus singles runs the numbers. No guarantees either way.

Common questions
When did Mega Evolution come out in the UK?
The worldwide English release was 26 September 2025, but the UK and the rest of EMEA were delayed to 10 October 2025. The Pokémon Company published a notice about the delay. Anything sold in the UK before that date was imported.
Will Mega Evolution restock in the UK?
Mega Evolution is a main expansion with booster boxes and the first set of a new series, so it was printed widely. Nobody outside The Pokémon Company knows the print schedule. Set alerts on the products you want at the main UK retailers and buy at RRP when they appear.
Which Mega Evolution ETB is better?
The two boxes differ only in the artwork and the promo: Riolu in the Mega Lucario version, Alakazam in the Mega Gardevoir version. Neither is a better investment. Pick the one you want, pay RRP, and do not buy both on the assumption that a pair sells for more.
What is the most valuable card in Mega Evolution?
Mega Lucario ex Mega hyper rare, 188/132, leads the set. Mega Gardevoir ex Mega hyper rare at 187/132 and the Mega Lucario ex special illustration rare at 179/132 follow. All three are secondary-market prices that move, so check recent sold listings before acting.
What is the RRP of a Mega Evolution ETB in the UK?
Argos lists Mega Evolution series Elite Trainer Boxes at £50.00. Use that as your line. Listings above it are resale prices. The booster bundle, booster box and Build & Battle Box each carry their own price, so check the retailer page for those.
