Chaos Rising UK: ETB price, restocks and chase cards
Chaos Rising is the fourth main expansion of the Mega Evolution series. It released in English on 22 May 2026, and it is the set that put Mega Greninja ex on every want list in the UK. This page covers what is in it, which product to buy, and how to get it at retail price.
What Chaos Rising is
Mega Evolution: Chaos Rising is a mid-sized set: 86 cards in the main set plus 36 secret rares, 122 in total. After the 295-card Ascended Heroes earlier in the year, it is a much tighter pool. The secret rare list is less than half the size, so any single secret slot has a better chance of being a card people want.
The face of the set is Mega Greninja ex. The two top cards in the set are both versions of it, and the Premium Collection that followed in July is built around it too.
The product line
- Booster box. Packs only, sold as a display.
- Booster bundle. A small box of packs and nothing else.
- Elite Trainer Box. Packs, sleeves and accessories, with a Fennekin illustration rare as the exclusive promo.
- Pokémon Center Elite Trainer Box. The official-store version with its own stamped promos.
- 3-pack blisters and checklane blisters. The supermarket and till-point formats.
- Build & Battle Box. The prerelease kit, sold at retail as well.
- Mega Greninja ex Premium Collection. Released on 3 July 2026, six weeks after the main set, with the mascot as its promo.
The sensible buy
The booster bundle is the cleanest way to open Chaos Rising. It is packs and nothing else, which is what most people opening the set actually want.
The Elite Trainer Box is the standard sealed pick. The Fennekin promo is an illustration rare rather than a full art, and it is the only part of the box that is exclusive. If you buy an ETB to hold, you are holding the promo and the sleeves, not the packs. Are Pokémon Elite Trainer Boxes worth it has the maths.
The Mega Greninja ex Premium Collection is a collector item. It has its own release date and its own stock cycle, so treat it as a separate product rather than part of the launch.
Blisters are for the odd pack at the till. They are not a stock item.
Chase cards
Three cards lead the secondary market:
- Mega Greninja ex special illustration rare, 116/086.
- Mega Greninja ex Mega hyper rare, 122/086, the last card in the set by number.
- Cinccino ex special illustration rare.
Prices move daily, so we do not quote them. The point is concentration. Two of the three chase cards are the same Pokémon, so demand for this set rests on one character. That is a strength while Mega Greninja is popular and a weakness if attention moves on. Which Pokémon sets hold value explains why a set carried by one card behaves differently from a set carried by several.
UK retail and RRP
Smyths lists the Chaos Rising Elite Trainer Box at £49.99. That is the number to hold retailers to. Argos prices Mega Evolution ETBs at £50.00, and the two chains are the main UK sources for the box.
We have not captured a UK price for the Chaos Rising booster bundle. For reference, Smyths lists the Pitch Black bundle from the same series at £24.99, so expect that bracket.
Where to look: Smyths, Argos, Tesco, Amazon UK for the Amazon-sold listing only, and Pokémon Center UK for the stamped ETB. Where to buy Pokémon cards in the UK covers the rest.
Sealed versus open
Chaos Rising is in print. It is a main expansion from May 2026, and main expansions are printed to demand. While it is on the print schedule, sealed product has a ceiling at retail price, because every restock resets the resale market.
So sealed Chaos Rising is stock, not an asset. Buy it at RRP, sell it while shelves are empty if that is your model, and do not warehouse it on the theory that it will be worth more in five years. Sealed versus singles covers the alternative.
If you open it, the smaller secret pool is on your side compared with a large set, but it is still a lottery. Sell what you pull through the routes in how to sell Pokémon cards in the UK, and grade only what clears the bar in is grading worth it in the UK.
How to buy at retail now
- Accounts ready at Smyths, Argos, Tesco and Amazon UK, with card and address saved.
- Bookmark the product pages. Searching during a restock costs the minute you do not have.
- One order per retailer. Limits are enforced and duplicates get cancelled.
- Check the shelf. Large Smyths and Tesco stores get stock that never lists online.
- Get an alert. Pokémon restock alerts in the UK explains what a useful one looks like.
Paying a reseller double for an in-print set is the one avoidable mistake. The shelves refill.
Common questions
When did Chaos Rising come out in the UK?
Mega Evolution: Chaos Rising released in English on 22 May 2026, including the UK. The Mega Greninja ex Premium Collection followed on 3 July 2026. The set is a main expansion and remains in print, so retailers keep receiving stock.
How much is the Chaos Rising Elite Trainer Box?
Smyths lists the Chaos Rising Elite Trainer Box at £49.99. Argos prices Mega Evolution Elite Trainer Boxes at £50.00. Those are the retail prices to hold sellers to; anything well above them is a resale listing rather than a shop price.
What is the Chaos Rising ETB promo card?
The standard Elite Trainer Box includes a Fennekin illustration rare promo that is exclusive to the box. The Pokémon Center version carries its own stamped promos and is sold only through Pokémon Center UK, which is the harder of the two to buy.
What are the best cards in Chaos Rising?
The three cards leading the secondary market are the Mega Greninja ex special illustration rare numbered 116/086, the Mega Greninja ex Mega hyper rare numbered 122/086 and the Cinccino ex special illustration rare. Prices change daily, so check a current guide before buying singles.
Is Chaos Rising worth buying sealed?
It is in print, so sealed product has a ceiling at retail price until the print run ends. Buy at RRP to open or to sell into short gaps in stock. Holding it long term is a bet on the print schedule, which you do not control.
Where this fits
Chaos Rising sits between Perfect Order and Pitch Black in the 2026 run, with Ascended Heroes before them and the 30th Celebration set after. Paragn Network monitors more than 1,000 UK retailers, and a Chaos Rising ETB at £49.99 is exactly the kind of alert members see first.
