Black Bolt and White Flare UK: restock and guide
Black Bolt and White Flare are one release sold as two sets. They arrived on the same day in July 2025, they share a structure, and they introduced a new rarity. This page covers both, because almost nobody buys one without looking at the other.
What Black Bolt and White Flare are
Together they form the fifth special expansion of the Scarlet & Violet series, split into two sets. The English release date for both was 18 July 2025. Black Bolt has 86 cards in the main list and 86 secret rares, 172 in total. White Flare has 86 main and 87 secret, 173 in total.
Look at those numbers again. Each set has as many secret rares as main cards. That is the defining fact of the release. The theme is Unova, the region from Pokémon Black and White, and the split follows the games: Zekrom leads Black Bolt, Reshiram leads White Flare.
Two firsts came with it. This was the first split expansion in English, and it introduced the black white rare, a new rarity built around the two-tone look of the original games.
As special sets, neither has booster boxes. Packs come only inside products.

Each set has its own line:

The booster bundle is the sensible buy for packs in either set. The two ETBs are the products people search for, and the promo is the deciding factor: Thundurus or Tornadus, take the one you want. The Victini black white rare is the card that surprised people. A small, non-ex Pokémon sitting at the top of a set is unusual, and it happened because the art and the new rarity landed together. Prices for every card here move, so check recent sold listings before you act on any of them.

Hold sealed, or open?
Sealed: both sets have the shape of sets that hold. Special expansions, no booster boxes, a new rarity that cannot be reprinted without the same look, and a theme with a fixed audience. Of the two, White Flare has had more attention because of Victini.
